How we plan a removal
Before the first cut, we walk the tree: look at the lean, check for included bark and codominant stems, look at root flare for rot or heaving, and figure out what's in the drop zone. A lot of these old water oaks in Oxford neighborhoods have hidden decay pockets you won't see until the saw's already in the wood.
If there's room, we fell the tree in one piece and buck it up on the ground. If it's within reach of a roof, power line, fence, or a neighbor's garage, we take it down in sections with rope and rigging, lowering pieces instead of dropping them.
Equipment we run
Bucket truck for straight-shot access, climbing gear for trees with no good bucket setup, and a mini skid loader for hauling rounds and brush off tight in-town lots. For bigger jobs we bring a chipper right to the site so debris doesn't sit around for days.
Utility lines and permits
If a tree is anywhere near a line owned by North East Mississippi Electric Power Association or Oxford Utilities, we coordinate clearance before cutting, not after. Inside city limits, some removals need a permit depending on species and location; we handle that paperwork so you don't have to chase it down.
Rural homestead trees
Many homes in Paris have oaks and hickories that have stood for generations, and when one of these starts showing dead limbs or trunk decay, removal has to be planned carefully given how close they usually sit to the house and outbuildings.
