Stump Grinding

Grinding stumps down below grade so you can regrade, reseed, or landscape over the spot.

Grinding is the fast, tidy way to deal with a stump without digging out the whole root system. We run a wheeled grinder down through the wood and root flare below grade, leaving a bowl of wood chips and soil where the stump used to be instead of a hole or a chunk of trunk sticking out of the yard.

This is usually the right call after any of our removals, or for stumps that have been sitting in a yard for years from work somebody else did.

What The Job Includes

  • Grinds 4 to 6 inches below grade standard
  • Deeper grinding available for replanting or construction
  • Works around sprinkler heads, cables, and edging on request
  • Chip debris hauled off or left for mulch
  • Multiple-stump and bulk lot pricing available
  • Same-day scheduling in many cases

How deep we grind

Standard grinding takes the stump down 4 to 6 inches below grade, enough to mow over or plant grass on top. If you're planning to put in a new tree, shrub, or footing in that spot, tell us and we can grind deeper.

Access for the grinder

Our grinder can get through a standard gate and most side yards. Tight backyards, tricky fence gaps, and stumps close to a foundation sometimes need a smaller machine, which we bring when the site calls for it.

What's left behind

Grinding produces a pile of wood chips and dirt at the stump location. We can haul that off, or leave it if you want mulch or fill material, your call.

Stump Grinding Questions

Pricing depends mostly on stump diameter and how many you're grinding at once; multiple stumps on the same visit cost less per stump than a single one-off call.
